4LYN 2011

For ten years, now, 4LYN have been part of the German music scene. They have supplied their devoted fans with new album material every two years and didn't leave out a single option to present their passionate energy also live. This regularity and self-abandonment was exactly the reason why they decided to pause for a moment, take a step back and just for once not to give in to outside pressure. They wanted to take a look at where they stand, where they want to go and how to get there.

Shortly after releasing their fifth, also charting, album “Hello” in 2008, their guitarist René Knupper left the band. This was when Dennis Krüger joined the Hamburg based band as the fourth “compadre”. Two years of touring through Europe and China soon turned him into an inherent part of the band's live setting. But as the DVD retrospective “The Good Life Period” on the band's history was released at the same time, little to no time was left for musical productivity. Therefore a short break was announced during which 4LYN's studio was cleaned out, newly arranged and Dennis was permanently installed there with his equipment.

As a result, the much needed space was created in order to let loose the band's creativity. Especially that of the new man on the guitar. He is the one taking over a coequal role in the band's songwriting process, now. For a good reason: after many years of hard work, Dennis awakens a sort of euphoric mood within the band, that electrifies all of the guys. Above all, his musical input fuels the appetite to start over again and try out all new things.

According to singer Ron Cazzato, the material that is being created will be something really big: “I get goose bumps when listening to Dennis' material and he inspires me to do try out different things. You want to create something that is worth these songs and I already have a lot of ideas that I never would have had before. This shows that his ideas are groundbreaking for what 4LYN will release in the future.”

As hooked on as they are right now, they are already getting a little restless. They can hardly wait to present their new sound to old and definitely soon new to be fans. As to how this is going to work, they are hardly working out a plan at the moment. If everything goes according to schedule there will be a new, the sixth, studio album coming out at the beginning of 2012 which is, of course, being followed by as much live possibilities as possible.

In order not get out of (live) practice until then, they have accepted an invitation to the Expo in Shanghai and other festivals on Chinese ground in late summer of 2010. After having had first experiences in this country in 2008, this new market was conquered in no time. And seeing how 1,000 of Chinese music fans celebrated them “boy band like” made the band feel that what they are doing they are definitely doing right.

More often than not, 4LYN is being discussed very controversially in Germany but at the same time there are a lot of fans out there that just love their spontaneous and loud manner. “This euphoria which we carry within us is often being misinterpreted as arrogance,” says Ron. “But the thing is, we simply love our band. We feel that what we do is simply wonderful and we live and celebrate it all day.”

A lot more of this will be made available and celebrated as soon as possible. As to how exactly this sounds, one will have to wait just a little longer. But 4LYN are, for a fact on the way, on their way. And this is, luckily, not yet at an end.
